There are several different options that would make a good ground cover for a dog run. OrganicScapes recommends pea gravel because it does not absorb urine and allows it to reach the ground. Another idea that works well is a concrete slab with a drain. I would not recommend cedar chips, because alot of dogs have skin that is sensitive to the oil that is in the chips.
